Breathe and other products

WeatherFlow stated that there is no development to report. That does not mean it’s been depreciated.

if it was only the message that there was no development to report, I wouldn’t be worried, but the reason given ‘increasingly crowded market’ makes me think that breath is at least on hold for a very, very long time. Also, their priority is now probably more at the tempest weather station.

I don’t need or plan to buy a Tempest, but would buy Breathe units for my stations at two locations. Heck just let me buy some extra AIR units until we get Breathe.

I better have an unit to measure airconditions outside like co2 and Nx

perhaps it would be a good idea if these guys from plume would work together with weatherflow and release a version together.

Plumelabs just announced a cheaper and better version to be released end of the month (10% off with GETFLOW2). https://plumelabs.com/en/flow/

There are some cheap sensors on aliexpress but I didn’t try those https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000069012006.html This one even measures CO2 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000190007916.html

plumelabs promised an API very soon, and some of these Chinese sensors have a possibility to transfer their data through usb. I guess for both you would need to write some software to publish the data, but there is definitely an opportunity to do so.

The Plume unit looks promising as an alternative to BREATHE , I could have used one here yesterday- in Oz we currently have really bad bushfires in NSW and QLD. In our home of Port Stephens region we copped the worst air pollution I have ever experienced yesterday from the smoke- attached are a few images from Windy weather showing PM 2.5, CO and N02 levels, just horrifying -could not even see past 200 metres in the early morning- bees were totally confused as well. A smart device that could switch on a HEPA filter when the levels rise would be great.

I personally use a PurpleAir for outside. I made a web page to display the data on my website. http://www.weathercat.net/wxaqi.php.

Inside I use a uHoo and the app displays quite a bit of data. http://www.uhooair.com. I like that this unit works with my smart switches. When the air is bad I have the air cleaners turn on.

I interested to see what Weather Flow comes out with.

Thanks for that info.
As the data sheet of the original module seems to be gone, but it’s still available, could you say a little to the differences / improvements of veesion 2?

Battery life on the first version was really too short for me. This is now improved. That was the most important factor for me to return the original one and go for the flow 2. Other improvements are in accuracy and it measures pm1.

this uhoo thing looks great, didn’t notice it before. It’s double the price, but measures more. Don’t hold your breath for a unit from weatherflow. They told us that currently there is too much competition to bring out the breath unit.

Its not completely discounted, as they mention it on the Kickstarted comments:

In fact there are quite a lot of titbits on there:

But sometimes the point in time is when some product is innovative and shortly after (if announced, pubic discussed and not produced) the time has come when one is to late for the market. Bummer!

In case here, the announcement of an indoor module had, for one or another, an influence to the decision to by… they might be disappointed still… and provably inceeasing with time.

Some people just don’t pay attention to what is actually written. I mentioned that here:

as I haven written earlier:

The comment on Kickstarter was from yesterday, so was the latest information I had seen, hence why I passed it on.

yup - I like my PA as well, although it is kinda funny how minimal it is under the hood. I have mine hooked into weewx (https://www.skahan.net/weewx/purpleair.html). AQI here between Tacoma and Seattle has been pretty bad for the last month, as high as 160 for periods in the last week, even though there are no fires near here at all. You won’t see those peaks on the quickie charts at the link above, there’s an averages-of-averages effect as you graph day=>week=>month=>year in the charts.

More fun chart is https://www.skahan.net/weewx/weewx_belchertown/graphs/ (look about 1/3 way down) which is Highcharts so you can zoom and pan nicely. Like the Belchertown skin. The same charts are on the day/week/month/year picks there too.
