Hello WeatherFlow backers. Here’s a quick update as we get closer to shipping.
DELIVERY UPDATE: All components for 2500+ AIRs and WiFi hubs have been produced at our factory in Shenzhen. Next step: assembly, quality assurance, and boxing for delivery. Pending FCC, CE & IC regulatory approvals, we should be ready to begin shipping in the next 10-15 days.
ADDRESS CONFIRMATION EMAIL via BackerKit: We are working with BackerKit, a trusted crowdfunding fulfillment service, to ensure delivery is smooth. In the next 7-10 days, we will send you an email to confirm your order and delivery address. You will also be able to choose delivery of the AIR and WiFi hub now, and the SKY later. Or, you can choose to wait and receive everything all at once when SKY is ready.
NO IMPORT FEE DELIVERY: Several backers have expressed concern about being charged VAT / customs fees on arrival. Rest assured that WeatherFlow intends to prepay import-related fees.
REGULATORY CERTIFICATIONS: FCC, CE & IC regulatory testing & certification are necessary hurdles for any electronic product. And, anything with a radio has 10 times more hoops to jump through due to the new Radio Equipment Directive for wireless technologies. Hopefully, we are very close to final. See how the rules recently changed.
USB WALL PLUG, LITHIUM BATTERIES: In preparation for your weather station, you will need two items: 1) a common USB wall plug or wall charger (like this: http://a.co/b1byjgg), and 4 AA Lithium batteries (we strongly recommend Energizer Ultimate Lithium http://a.co/5KszYWg ).
