I’m planning on installing a Tempest station on the sign of my Uncle’s store. Only concern I have is that it’s near power lines. The sign is 5-6ft away from the lines. What are your thoughts? Would the lightning detector malfunction if I installed the unit there? I circled where I’m going to place the unit.
If you have a portable am radio, set on a free frequency and go to where you want to set the Tempest. If the lines are scattering, you’ll pick up the noise … hence the Tempest will have to close its ears.

@jgentry If your uncle’s sign uses fluorescent light bulbs to light it up that may also set off the lightning detector. A bad ballast in a fluorescent light bulb will cause interference on the AM band.
