My batteries died yesterday and I read this thread then, but today while making coffee I recalled a Nat Semi application note about using an op-amp as a voltage regulator. I was thinking of using a TV masthead amp power supply and using the op-amp instead of batteries. The op-amp should hold the voltage steady even if the power supply voltage fluctuates. Sadly I don’t have access to the data books anymore. But will check the internet for inspiration.
Just thought I would give my 2c worth.
At this point, I would suggest holding out for the official WF solar option that is supposedly just about ready to ship. It is well worth the wait, and installs in seconds with no tools…
