Ummm yeah. I kinda took the quick way out there. Totally agree.

Over here on the wet coast we have inside plumbing and everything, so we’re at least 18th century, but ipv4 only from the major ISPs as far as I know. FWIW doing networking for a living, I ‘like’ ipv4 and NAT and still haven’t found a reason why for a small home network ipv6 would ever be needed. RFC-1918 is goodness.

Hey Gary, what are you using for the access point software? I have used hostapd (although not on a RPi), which works really well. It is very particular about the wifi chipset though.

I use hostapd and dnsmasq as you can see in several messages posted above.

Oh sorry. Hostapd dodn’t jump out in my quick scan of the thread.

I have tested it with two popular and inexpensive USB adapters and it works well.
