I tried the solar power accessory and it was a failure - twice. Perhaps that’s why they don’t sell it any more. This is one of the reasons that I folded and went with the tempest.
That being said, it would be trivial to set up a solar panel with an external battery to accomplish what you desire. If I ever get the time I’ll do exactly that myself.
