How to add Tempest to youtube channel?

Hi everyone and thank you for reading this post.
I would like to add some weather info from my Tempest station to my YouTube live stream. Please help me to fix it. Is there away to do it?
I’m a little nooby on this matter, but believe here is many smart people and maybe someone already did that and can share his/her experience with me(us).
Thank you and have a great weather

I dont know what your live stream is. If it is a camera then you could place a screen within view visible in the corner of your camera view.
There are several topics in this forum discussing display options.
For example this is an interesting discussion ( but use search to find others)

The simplest form would be to include an old mobile phone which does not require a sim. Connect it to your wifi, open a browser or use the Tempest App to display which ever screen you like to view. Mount it near your camera.
Or you could have a large computer screen behind a picture frame displaying any of the display options.
If you want to use data to insert characters within your stream it is going to require more information on your requirements.

If its weather data on top of a video stream - ie YouTube Live then OBS allows overlays of a webpage - so you load up your video you want to stream in OBS, add an overlay of the Tempest station and then stream.

Mine is not live at the mo, but an example is at:

The overlay is from weewx and my tempest feed, linked in with a live view of the sky…

I know what you’re wanting to do. There’s an application called [https://obsproject.com/](OBS Project) that allows you to livestream with a website over you (for example your weather station at tempestwx.com) to Facebook, Youtube and other sources for free.

Yes Ben i red about OBS or StreamLab and wil use that software to stream but question is how can insert my station there :frowning:

Hi Andy thank you 4 your replay very very nice… please explain me how do you add overlay of the Tempest station in more details… many thanx :*

In OBS you add a ‘browser’ as a source - in your case your Tempest web page and it will auto remove the background so the video underneath can be seen. You then stream to whatever service you want… my screen grabs show the two sources - so the video and the browser. !nd the settings where streaming to youtube is selected, you just need your Stream Key

many thanx again Andy… I have problem with installing weewx on my win10 :frowning: to get this overlay. Do I need to install it?

weewx does not run on Windows (prob a whole dif topic tbh, i run mine on a pi) - however, you can just add your tempest url so https://tempestwx.com/station/3006/ - that should give you the weather overlaid…

I love your see throught overlay alot  … trying to fix some how … WeeWX is a free, open source, software program, written in Python so I did installed the Phyhon but not sure how to install weewx now  :frowning:

So mine uses the Belchertown skin in weewx - that is a whole different thread and it takes a bit of time to sort out - sadly not on Windows though -see

http://weewx.com/

A raspberry Pi is argably (more experianced people may have a view) your best bet and then go from there…

You can see the full version of the skin at https://belchertownweather.com/ - the data comes in via MQTT, via a seperate system on a Pi. Its all a bit of a learning curve but a great one - first step is getting a pi…

Andy

ok I will install Pi on my windows10 (https://projects.raspberrypi.org/en/projects/install-raspberry-pi-desktop) and go from there… Andy are you running your OBS on Pi too ?

I dont think running Raspian on Windows is going to work with weewx (?) - you really need a Pi or a Linux machine. OBS does not run on the Pi - so that is working via Windows…

If you want, you could install Ubuntu, a Linux operating service on your PC or a USB stick and then run A raspberry Pi or weewx from there. tbh I’m not used to Linux as I rarely use it but know this from the past.

For installing it onto and empty USB stick, follow this: https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows#1-overview

Thank you Ben for your input I’m currently installing Ubuntu on virtual machine

This advertisement mentions OBS can run on Linux. In which case I am guessing you might be able to use a raspberry pi with several different options of Tempest display to include on the stream. I have not tried it but I might one day.
