Google finally recognizes that OEM's are killing background tasks developers need to take survey

I found this today, as I have been seeing the WeatherFlow app being kill on various OEM version of Android such as:

  • Samsung
  • TCL
  • Motorola

I sure hope that the dev’s would take this survey since their “notification” only work for a short period of time when you first launch the app on the phones I have listed. After say 24 hours notification no longer work unless you use the app again and re-toggle the rain and lightening options.

This is the solution on my Samsung Galaxy S20+.

I haven’t had an issue with the Tempest app, possibly because I never make it 24 hours without using it. I added the Tempest app to the list for the screen capture.

That is why I think Google is doing the survey for each app developer. If you have to “register” an app not to sleep on these platforms for smaller developers it loads them up with support calls and the consumer either blames the app or google not the OEM that put the controls in place.
